Westbury on Trym School Gala Swimming Team

Each Thursday morning from 0815-0900hrs during school term we meet at Henbury Swimming Pool for Gala Training.

Children are selected to take part in the training through a trial system. Our coach is Karen Thorpe who is an ex GB Synchronised Swimming Team member and is now a Talent Scout for the GB Swimming team.
Children must be between the ages of 8 and 11 are chosen on their swimming ability, technique, speed and reliability as a team member.
All children would be expected to attend other swimming lessons as well as Gala Training.
Throughout the year we take part in a series of galas which take place every second month on a Wednesday evening at Horfield Swimming Pool. Here we compete against Hollymead, St Theresas, Bishop Road and St Bonaventures Primary Schools.
The final of these galas will be held in July.

We also take part in the English Schools Swimming Events which take place in Millfield and we also take part in the Bristol Schools Swimming Competition as well.

Westbury on Trym has a long successful history of Gala Swimming and two of our girls (Abbie Bowring now year 7 at St Mary Redcliffe) and Charlie Waters hold several of the Bristol Schools Swimming records, which is a huge achievement.

If you feel you would like to join our gala squad then please contact Clare Warbis on 07986 848067 for further information. Trials for new swimmers will be towards the end of the summer term.
